Dr. Monica Handa
Dr Monica’s passion is related to all things to do with getting healthier. She decided to become a chiropractor at the tender age of 14! Initially in her desire to help people she wanted to do medicine but she was inspired to take a different route. This was as a result of her parents achieving amazing results from their chiropractor in Surrey in the mid 80’s. Her mum had problems after her last pregnancy and received the usual advice at the time which was bed rest and corsets. This is a time Dr Monica remembers vividly as she was having to help her mum so much with her youngest sibling. Eventually her mum sought help from a chiropractor who was not far from Dr Monica’s school.
Dr Monica would meet her mum at the chiropractor’s office and they would get the bus back home together. This inspired Dr Monica to look at becoming a chiropractor; her youngest sibling Dr Gopal Handa is also a chiropractor – it really is a family affair.
Dr Monica went to the first Chiropractic Institution in the UK at the time, Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth. She completed a 4 year BSc degree and achieved a 1st in 1993. She started working in August 1993 as an associate in Wilmslow and in Warrington. She bought the Warrington practice in 1998 after it been open for 10 years.
A lifelong passion of striving for the best she can give has meant she has attended more courses that she cares to remember. These have ranged from sports, sacro-occipital technique, applied kinesiology, paediatric courses, nutritional courses, spinal rehabilitation and management of scoliosis to name but a few. She was the first female in Europe to qualify in CBP (idealspine.com) in 2005 and then again one of only a handful of practitioners worldwide to gain an advanced qualification in CBP in 2014.
She has always loved to give back to her immediate and wider community and has received training from her association in handling the media; she has been a mentor for many chiropractors and has held numerous positions within various chiropractic organisations and is currently chair of the RCC‘s orthopaedic, rehabilitation and exercise faculty and sits on the BCA‘s x-ray standards committee. She has conducted several chiropractic mission trips to Cuba and India. The practice also has a charity cause they do a year round donation to.
She has published an article and is an author. Dr. Monica is regularly asked to perform speaking engagements and has spoken at UCA events and SCA events.
She has performed chiropractic mission trips to Cuba and India, is a mum to two amazing children, Nik and Karina and is married to Paul Henshaw the other practice Director. In her spare time Dr Monica enjoys going to the gym, taking the family dogs out and keeping up with her extended family across the globe.
